Formerly the official online source of genealogical data for the Scottish General Register Office (GRO), Origins now provides fee-for-service and limited free searches based on details from Scottish Old Parish Registers.

Burke's Peerage and Gentry
The official Burke's Peerage website, just opened on the 1st of August, 2001.   The web site includes a fully searchable database of the family records contained in the Scottish edition of the book.  Viewing of a partial abstract from the database is free, but a search returning any detail incurs a charge to the user.  There is a section dedicated to the Hannays of Kirkdale.

This Country Inn/Hotel  is reputed to date back to the 17th century and is situated in Sorbie, directly across the street from the Village Hall where the Clan Hannay Gathering Luncheon is usually held each Spring.  The Pheasant Inn includes a restaurant and a lounge. The Bruce Hotel is located in downtown Newton Stewart and is popular with visiting Hanna/y/hs s for both accommodation and dining.  Their website provides online booking.  19 rooms.

Located in downtown Newton Stewart on the high street.  Recently refurbished rooms. Dining facilities.

Stranraer

Cross Haven Guest House
Located on Lewis Street in Stranraer.  Non-smoking rooms. Drop off and pick up service to guests arriving in Stranraer by train, coach or ferry.
