Newton Stewart is the closest sizeable town to Sorbie, and where the largest collection of amenities can be found in the area.

The ceilidh and dinner have been held in the past either at the Bruce Hotel or the Crown Hotel, both on the east side of the A714 (on the right hand side as one enters Newton Stewart from the south), near the intersection with the B7079.
