Walter Dore, husband of clan member Barbara Hanna Dore, made
enquiries with the following results:
There being no family to contact (no offspring), Wally
managed to find a Miss Carole Rice, a registered nurse, who has
worked with and known Dr. Hanna quite closely since 1960. Dr.
Robert Hanna died August 11th after approx. two years of failing
health, at age 79. Miss Rice knew of his Clan membership, as
well as the Clan motto and of the Sir Thomas More Collegiate
(Christian Brothers of Ireland) Pipe band (although he wasn't
active in it recently). She said Dr. Hanna was a "wonderful,
unique and very gifted man" and highly respected by everyone.!
Wally gave her a brief history of the Clan Hannay Society and
the reasons for my call. He expressed the condolences of the
Chief on behalf of the Clan. Miss Rice seemed deeply touched,
and thanked the Clan Hannay Society for its interest and
expressions of concern.
