The 2007
Gathering

The Annual Gathering took place on Saturday
May 26th when over 60 clan members, including several from
America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, gathered at Sorbie
Tower following an AGM and lunch at the nearby Garlieston
Village Hall. A considerable amount of conservation work has
been carried out on the tower which was decorated with flags and
candles in the vaults.
The
chief, Prof. David Hannay, was led to the tower by two local
pipers playing "The Hannays Return to Sorbie", commemorating the
return of Sorbie Tower 42 years ago to the Clan Hannay Society.
In the evening there was a ceilidh/dinner at the Crown Hotel in
Newton Stewart, followed the next day by a visit to Kirkdale
House. The next Clan Gathering will be on Saturday 31st May
2008.
